To apply, visit one of the offices listed below, either in Greece or internationally, with all necessary documentation. For residents in the Attica and Thessaloniki regions, visit the Department of Security corresponding to your residence. For other areas, go to the Sub-Division or Security Department of your residence. In locations where these services are unavailable, ID cards can be obtained from the local Police Department. For applications made abroad, please visit the nearest embassy or consulate (available only in Germany or Cyprus).

Request the application form for a Greek ID Card and complete it accurately. Additionally, you must fill out and sign a “dilosi” (statement of facts) indicating your intention to obtain an identity card, which may require the presence of a witness, along with the payment of applicable stamp fees. Submit these documents to the attending officer for verification.

The officer will collect your biometric data, such as fingerprints, if necessary, and will process your application. If all information is verified as correct, you will receive your identity card either on the same day or within a few days.

Required Documents for Greek ID Card:
– Two recent black and white photographs (for ID) measuring 3.6 x 3.6 cm.
– Application – A solemn statement regarding the official search of the applicant’s data from the Integrated Information System of the National Population Register (OCPED) of the Ministry of the Interior, which must be printed and signed by the applicant. Note that the data search process through the (UCITS) does not apply in cases where the municipality where the applicant is registered lacks internet access to the Integrated Information System.

It is not possible to interconnect the access to the Integrated Information System of National Population (POPs) of the municipality in the municipalities, to which the applicant is registered.
Application for an identity card to be completed by the issuing competent authority on the basis of the identity of the person concerned, as evidenced by the Integrated Domestic Information System of the Ministry of the Interior or by the birth certificate. The application shall be printed and made available to the applicant in hard copy for signature.
Certification of the Nursing or Sanitary Laboratory for the Blood Group and RHESUS (if you wish to be listed on your card).
A travel document or any other document of a domestic or foreign authority that gives the previous entry of the “SURNAME, NAME AND NAME” of the interested persons, in roman characters (if you wish to have the above mentioned elements different from the ELOT 743 standard, while submitting responsible statement).
For the issuance of the identity card, it is necessary to certify the applicant’s evidence from a witness. In the case of a minor, it is certified by a parent or by his or her guardian or guardian.
